The Actorate has been at the forefront of my heart since I walked through the doors of Alley’s studio years ago. To answer the question of “why The Actorate” is quite simple for me: the absolute love and adoration of a teacher for her student, the passion of this incredible woman, and the passion that she inflicts upon her students. Alley has furthered my passion for performing arts, to extents where a “thank you” does no justice for what she has done for me. Alley and the Actorate have not only grown and developed me as a performer, but they have grown, nurtured and developed me into the young lady I am today. For this, I could never thank you enough. I am, who I am, because of the passion Alley has ignited in me, and because of the person and performer The Actorate has made me. I hold immense love and gratitude for this beyond incredible studio, I simply know it’s where I belong, thank you for everything you do for me, and all your students, Alley. I am absolutely honoured to call you my coach, and my “performing mom”. The Actorate is held so preciously in my heart.

When covid hit I had to put my performing arts career aside and my one concern was whether or not I'd be able to get back on stage, rehearse something, or just do what I love the most - performing. after meeting Allison I was re-introduced to old techniques while being taught new techniques and approaches to the pieces I had been working on. I found a space that was encouraging, open and allows experimentation and growth, which is wonderful, especially because I am new to Durban.
